I am sure anyone who moves into a house (especially a new house) is overwhelmed with all the house projects/repairs that will need to be done. We are no different! Every time we get a little bit of extra money we have a HUGE list of things that we want to do to the house...like finishing the basement and finishing the yard. Although those two things might not seem like a huge task...believe me, they are! Not only will they both take a lot of time but THOUSANDS of dollars. BUT with all that said...you have to start somewhere. That somewhere for us started with our cold storage room. It was a project we could do indoors (because of the cold) and took the least amount of money to complete from start to finish. Because it is basically a storage room we didn't need to get high quality paint and finish materials. We still wanted to do a good job on installation but we picked and chose what we could go cheap on and what we had to, we spent more on. We just painted the room white because white makes the room look bigger and brighter and since there are no windows in this room that is a plus. The door was the biggest expense because we had to get an exterior door to provide better insulation so that the "cold-Storage room" actually stayed cold. Chris and I did all the work and it was actually a lot of fun to work together. This was actually the first time I have ever painted! GO ME! :)

We painted the floor with special concrete paint to make it look more finished.

Here is our food storage. It looks like we had a lot but once we actually organized it we realized how much we DON'T have! :)

I'm very jealous! All of mine still looks like "Before..."
And I can't believe how much things cost, last year we redid so much inside our home, now this year we are trying the outside, but everything costs so much money!
I hear you about the cost of finishing things. Our to do list is huge as well but we are just doing little bits at a time so it takes forever! I'm so jealous of your storage ours is crammed into our regular kitchen cupboards and it's very squishy. You too are awesome.
